Kimberly Vaughan is an award winning educator.  She has a successful
teaching background on the middle school and post-secondary graduate level.
She was also the 2008 Metropolitan Nashville Public School District Teacher of
the year.
She is currently a 6th grade mathematics teacher in Davidson County.
She has earned an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership,

as well as a Master of Education degree in Special Education,
and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an
emphasis in mathematics and science.

Kimberly Vaughan has served as the Mathematics Curriculum Council Chair
(MNPS-Davidson County, 2007) and as a Mathematics Curriculum Designer
and Presenter for the
Tennessee Department of Education Highly Qualified
Academy (2004).  She has served on several education and technology
committees within the Nashville community
, and has held several leadership
positions
.  She has presented on topics such as Standards Based Mathematics,
Teaching Mathematics to Students with a Learning Disability, Teaching
Mathematics through a Holistic Approach, Building a Classroom Website, and
Using Technology to Enhance Classroom Instruction.
 

She has also designed and implemented three workshops for parents titled
Protecting our Kids (partnering with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and
Metropolitan Nashville Police Department), Mathematic Family Fun, and
Computer Safety for Children. Vaughan has also traveled and presented these
topics at schools in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School District.


Kimberly Vaughan is an advocate for children with special needs and has
designed programs to assist exceptional students.  She works well within the
community, volunteering for several community projects and has participated
with legislation passed at the Tennessee State Capitol Hill (2009).

As an educator she continuously works to pave a successful path for
students by promoting academic growth; designing and implementing two
intervention programs for students who are at-risk as well as challenging

gifted students; conducting and presenting research studies to bring more
awareness to the needs of students with a learning disability; designing and
conducting staff developments; and setting up the Harry L. Vaughan Education
Foundation, Inc
® Scholarship Fund for college-bound students with preference
given to students entering into the field of education.
