SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Scholarship Selection Criteria
The following students are eligible to apply for a Scholarship:

1. New Students commencing Full-Time undergraduate degree who are residents

of the State of Tennessee.

2. Scholarship candidates must have completed a high school education by June 1 of the
awarding year.  

3. Scholars must be accepted, at the time of receipt of the scholarship, as a full time

student at an accredited institution of higher learning.  This would include any
United States accredited university, college, or four year
accredited degree-granting institution.

4. Applicants must submit their fully completed, signed application to The Harry L. Vaughan
Education Foundation, Inc
® / P.O. Box 178 / Whites Creek, TN 37189 on or before the
April 5th of each year.
1. Scholarship Application Cover Sheet
2. Completed HVEF Scholarship Application Form
3. Three letters of recommendation (letter of support from at least three people from the  
    prospective scholars High School or community/church group outlining leadership roles  
    within the school, church, or community).
4. Transcripts (photocopy of official transcripts are acceptable)
5. Copy of current class schedule
6. Copy of letter of acceptance from college or university or statement explaining acceptance
7. Brief statement stating educational objective, career goals, financial need, past and current
   extracurricular activities, community involvement, and how this scholarship will help you
   reach your goals.

Any Major or course of study will be considered

Scholarship Amount
Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of each year.
The number of scholarships will vary depending on the amount of scholarship funds available.
The Board of Directors will determine the amount to be awarded to each successful
applicant based on the selection criteria; awards range from 500 -2000 for each student.

Scholarship Awards
Scholarship awards are to be applied towards tuition, fees, books, supplies
and/or equipment required for the courses at the educational institution.
Three students will be selected per year.


Scholarships will be based on financial need, personal motivation, educational and career goals,
and extracurricular activities, as well as consider the overall quality of the application.

Application Deadlines and Award Dates:
It is the intent of the Board of Directors to maximize the assistance provided
by making financial awards as early as possible in the school year.

Spring Award Deadline –  April 5 with award(s) made by June 1
If application deadlines are extended, award dates will be adjusted.
Miscellaneous Information

The Harry L. Vaughan Education Foundation, Inc® reserves the right to use the name and/or photograph of scholarship award recipients in promotional
materials designed to increase awareness of the Foundation.

By accepting scholarship awards, recipients understand their college or university may request confirmation of scholarship awards from the Board of
Directors in connection with institutional financial aid matters.

Important, please note:
Benefit determinations are made in a nondiscriminatory manner without regard to religion, race, physical or mental disabilities, sexual orientation, height,
weight, age, marital status, or national origin of the prospective applicant.

HVEF executive board members and their families are not eligible to apply.

No HVEF trustee or any member of the foundation trustee's family (including wife/husband, mother/father, and children/relatives) shall be eligible for
consideration as a recipient.

Previous HVEF Scholarship recipients are not eligible.

The HVEF Scholarship awards are paid directly to the college/degree-granting institution on behalf of the scholarship winner(s).  Distribution of this fund will
be accomplished by the submission of documentation of expenses; whereby, a check will be made out and forwarded to the institution.  Award payment is
contingent upon each Scholar providing the proper documentation in a timely manner to The Harry L. Vaughan Education Foundation, Inc.  Withdrawing or
dropping a class may affect a potential refund as the college, university, or educational institution will be required to refund the HVEF scholarship award
directly to the Harry L. Vaughan Education Foundation, Inc.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award status on or before May 1
